Wednesday 10th June - walk *** – West Mersea – some sunshine and squally showers!

Another poor forecast today with squally showers moving through meaning the wind would be all over the place so no windsurfing today so it was time to drive over to Colchester to pick up a boom I bought weeks ago! I actually managed my exercises in a sunny, warm back garden, then Mag and I enjoyed a quiet breakfast surrounded by many flowers in bloom before I packed a picnic! As soon as we left Felixstowe the first heavy shower arrived as we headed for Colchester, we picked up the boom with no problems, Mags mobile took us straight there:) I then decided to head to Mersea Island as we haven’t been there for several years, first stop was the car park near the windsurf club where you get an hour free, all day is over £9! At this point the sun has returned with some top clouds but we are surrounded by menacing black clouds so we take the brolly on a walk along the beach towards East Mersea past the long row of colourful beach huts that always make a good photo! We returned to the van spotting loads of tiny crab as the tide dropped! We then moved onto the car park in front of the sailing club where all the boats are moored for another free hour and had our yummy picnic in the van as a spell of heavy rain arrived! It was then the 40 mile trip back to Felixstowe, stopping off at Lidl for a couple of things and spotting another electric hire bike which seem to be littered everywhere in Colchester! Then after tea another shower in Felixstowe produced a rainbow right over our house:)

PS - headed down to Felixstowe Ferry to see a lovely sunset:)
